The Okaloosa County Department of Safety anticipates that bridges off Okaloosa Island will close ahead of Subtropical Storm Alberto.
They are advising people if they would like to leave to do so before noon Monday.
The National Weather Service predicts SubTropical Storm Alberto will make its landfall near Destin bringing with it sustained winds of 65 mph.
The Okaloosa County Department of Public Safety has staff at their Emergency Operations Center in Niceville monitoring the storm and its effects throughout the county and is prepared to coordinate response activities, according to the Board of County Commissions.
The Department also asks that people who do not believe their homes will hold up to the sustained winds, typically mobile homes and older structures, consider alternative arrangements. The Davidson Middle School Shelter in Crestview, located at 6261 Old Bethel Rd, is available for those who may need it.
The Florida Department of Transportation will close bridges once sustained winds are greater than 39 mph, so all Okaloosa Transit buses will not operate until at least 4PM Monday afternoon.
