SUMMERDALE, Ala (WKRG) — On Sunday, one of the original gators that lived at the sanctuary in Summerdale for the last 15 years was found dead.

A necropsy showed the gator, known as Shifty, had been shot.

Owner Wes Moore says he feels violated and is angry. He is offering a $2,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person who would do something like this out of what he calls, “pure meanness.”

Alligator Alley is a sanctuary to more than 200 alligators.
