CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) – Clearwater Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver that killed a skateboarder early Thursday morning.
The incident happened along Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and South Keene Road.
Police said just before 2 a.m., calls starting coming in about a reckless driver in that area. When officers arrived, they found a victim in the road.
According to Clearwater police, Tyler Deremo, 25, of Largo was hit while he was skateboarding. The 2010 Toyota Sierra did not hit the brakes, witnesses said.
Deremo was taken to Morton Plant Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said he died after being admitted.
The vehicle was later found abandoned on Cleveland Street. Officers know who the driver is and are searching for them.
