ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) — Police in St. Petersburg are looking for the person suspected of shooting a 15-year-old boy Tuesday morning.
Police say Javarious Martin, 15, was shot at least once in the head around 1:18 a.m. at 3648 20th Avenue South. He was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. Responding officers stopped the vehicle at 22nd Avenue South and 46th Street South, where St. Petersburg Fire-Rescue paramedics began treatment and transported the victim to Bayfront Health.
He underwent surgery and remains in very critical condition.
Police say they believe teen was shot during drive-by. Officers also say they responded to a call for shots fired at the same home within the past week; however, no one was injured in that incident.
Police say there is no description of the suspect, or suspects, at this time.
Detectives are on scene and have cordoned off the 4600 Block of 20th Avenue South as they investigate. The vehicle the victim was transported in has been secured.
This is the same area where a 15-year-old was shot and killed on Friday evening.
St. Petersburg Police say Trevion Larkins, 15, was shot near the area of 14th Avenue South and 40th Street just after 7 p.m. Friday. First responders found Larkins dead at the scene.
