SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) – With less than a week to go before the election, Sen. Marco Rubio has a busy schedule.

Rubio made campaign stops in five counties Friday, imploring his faithful Republican followers to vote early and to encourage others to do the same.

“I feel good about the Republican enthusiasm, but we have to keep it going. You know there are millions of votes out there that are going to be cast,” Rubio told a small gathering in Spring Hill.

The senator said his race will be a key to maintaining Republican control of the U.S. Senate. “We can’t hold the majority if we lose Florida,” Rubio said.

At the same time, he’s maintaining distance between himself and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump – despite having endorsed Trump.

“I think our race stands on it’s own. I have my own record, my own achievements, I’m very proud of em of the things I’ve done,” Rubio said.
