A very large alligator stopped people in their tracks at Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland last weekend.
Suzy Paul was visiting the park on Saturday when she captured a video of the massive gator and another large gator resting behind it, which she shared on Facebook.
“People are commenting, ‘he looks like he swallowed a cow!'” Paul laughed.
“He swims right up to where we’re standing and kind of just parks and just looks at us,” Paul told News Channel 8.
“So we all back up about 20 feet, we’re a good distance away, and we just stand there and wait a minute. Sure enough he starts walking across the trail and he’s huge. So much bigger than I thought in the water. It was amazing.”
While he may resemble “Humpback” the alligator who made national headlines previously, locals are saying this is a different, much larger alligator.
“Humpback actually has a higher arched back,” said Paul.
“This guy, somebody actually named him Fabio, from what I’m hearing from the locals, and he has a very large neck. He’s old, very huge, but there’s a difference between Humpback and this guy that they’re calling Fabio.”
