LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA/WESH) – A mother is sharing her grief after her 6-year-old little girl was found beaten to death in Lakeland.
The child’s father and girlfriend are to blame, according to police.
“Right now, I’m angry. I’m every emotion that the human body can do right now,” said Shatoya Curry, mother of 6-year-old Honesty.
Police found Honesty unresponsive in her father and his girlfriend’s apartment, beaten to death.
“She had a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and at that point she was in a coma,” Curry said.
Honesty and her younger sister Eliyana were at the Lakeland apartment spending the summer with their father.
Curry says her youngest was also abused.
“She was a victim also. She had two black eyes and scratches and bruises everywhere.”
Curry said she’s never had any issues with their father, Larry Golden, or his girlfriend, Breonna Wren.
“Why? They could have called me,” Curry said.
“Why did they take the opportunity away from me to watch my baby grow up.”
Golden and Wren aren’t getting out of jail anytime soon. They’re being held without bond.
Three other children were taken from the home and DCF is involved.
