Lakeland – The Polk County Veterans Council is looking for about 50 World War II and Korean War veterans who are interested in a September Flight to Honor trip.
The one-day trip to Washington, D.C. makes stops at memorials and monuments, and includes a sendoff and reception fit for a hero.
The first Flight to Honor trip of the year took place last week, departing around 6 a.m. in Lakeland and returning around 9 p.m. In order to start raising funds for the September trip, the council needs interested veterans to sign up.
Veterans taking the trip do not pay anything. For information, call the Polk County Veterans Council at (863) 940-4841.
