ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – Two pedestrians were struck, one killed, after using a crosswalk to cross a street in St. Petersburg Friday night.
Police said Michael Parker, 50, was driving his Ram truck west on Central Avenue when he struck Robert Surprenant Jr., 61, and Darlene Surprenant, 61, who were crossing at 21st Street.
Both pedestrians were transported to Bayfront Health in critical condition. Robert Surprenant was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Police said Parker remained at the crash site and is cooperating with the investigation.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, detectives say.
