A man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to attack a church in Pinellas Park with Molotov cocktails, police said.

Spencer Sledge, 28, was arrested Jan. 17 for threatening communications or threats of mass shooting and booked into the Pinellas County Jail, according to an affidavit.

In a YouTube video titled “Iglesia Ni Cristo Molotov attack in Seattle was not enough,” police said Sledge referenced an apparent arson attempt at the Iglesia ni Cristo church in Rainier Valley, Wash. In Oct. 2018, a man threw several Molotov cocktails at the church while services were underway. No one was hurt.

“I often dream and think about doing this myself,” Sledge said, according to police. “I was born and raised in that church and I want to throw Molotov cocktails at it.”

Adding that a lone wolf attack would not be sufficient, Sledge goes on to imply that there should be coordinated attacks occurring in more than just the Seattle area, the affidavit states. Sledge also said that if an attack occurred in St. Petersburg, he would be the number one suspect, according to police.

“This statement is a threat to the church Iglesia ni Cristo [in Pinellas Park],” police said in the report.

When questioned by detectives, police said Sledge admitted to uploading the video.

He was released from the Pinellas County Jail Wednesday on a $10,000 bond.
