Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence hosted a rally in Clearwater Monday evening.

The Indiana governor spoke at the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport.

Pence hit on many of presidential nominee Donald Trump’s talking points. “I’m a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order,” the governor said.

Pence assured supporters Trump is powering ahead to a victory. “Don’t be fooled. This race is on. And we are wheel to wheel, and we are leading in the latest polls and in Florida, and we are gonna fight all the way to the checkered flag,” he said.

About 10 minutes into Pence’s speech, every light in the airplane hangar went out. That affected the TV lights and PA system.

Pence tried to improvise with a rolled up poster and then a megaphone, with a small light aimed at the podium. He didn’t miss a beat when things got back to normal.

Meanwhile, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton will be in the Tampa Bay area Tuesday.

The former secretary of state will hold a public event in Tampa, her campaign announced. The time and location have yet to be announced. Also on Tuesday, Bill Clinton will campaign in St. Petersburg. The event will be held at the Wildwood Rec Center, at 1000 28th St. S, at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Register here.Vice President Joe Biden will also campaign for Clinton in Tampa on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Voters at the Pence event are enjoying the attention given to Florida. “Oh, we are going to decide it. It is definitely going to be Trump-Pence,” Melanie Gormley said.

“I’m confident the other citizens of Florida will make the right decision come Nov. 8,” Konrad Bach said.
