TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Bay area received a dose of Christmas cheer in a way that’s becoming Tampa’s specialty, a boat parade. From lights to music and even Christmas characters, decorative boats cruised down the Hillsborough River.

People packed the riverwalk eager to see the unique displays.

“Oh I’m like a little kid. I’m worse than a little kid,” said Tony Raniery, who goes to the parade every year. “we love it. That’s why we came out. We actually own a boat. I was hoping we could enter it and come in but it was too far to come out.”

These boats weren’t the only ones with elaborate get-ups.

One Tampa Bay couple told 8 On Your Side, the only way to enjoy the parade is with their own Christmas style.

“The holiday boat parade in Tampa is the best one around. We live in Bel Air and we’re staying at a hotel for two nights because we love in here.”

Many spectators said it feels to get out of the house and enjoy celebrations like this one.

“It’s definitely refreshing to get out with the family for sure,” said Shaquille Scott.
