PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WKRG) — Despite all the hurricane destruction they’ve been dealing with over the past week and a half, two first responders in Florida have a big reason to smile.

Panama City Police Detective Cori Clark and Mexico Beach Firefighter Bryon Hughes got married on Sunday.

Like most couples, that had been planning their big day for months. When Hurricane Michael tore apart their cities on October 10, it looked like the storm might jeopardize their plans.

In this case, the storm proved to be no match for their love.

In a photo shared by the Panama City Police Department on Facebook, blue skies paint a beautiful backdrop, as their colleagues look on at their wedding.

“It was a beautiful sight among all the destruction,” the police department wrote in the post.

We couldn’t have said it any better! Congratulations to the newlyweds!
