Dessert Diva Danette Randall is stopping by News Channel 8 and to show Melissa and Evan an easy recipe that is perfect for Father’s Day!
POTATO CHIP COWBOY HATS
Pringle style potato chips
¾ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
Twizzlers pull’n’peel cherry licorice candy ( gently pulled apart into single strands, and cut in half)
Gumdrops or DOTS style candy
Rolos (unwrapped)
DIRECTIONS
Lay down some waxed paper
In a double boiler ( or using a microwaveable bowl that a whole potato chip can be dunked into) melt the chocolate.
Dip the potato chips one at a time into the chocolate, let some chocolate drip off. Place curved edges up on the waxed paper.
Place a Rolo in the center of chip, and a piece of the twizzler around the Rolo. You can make some of the strands longer than others, so the licorice can hang over the chips a bit, or just to the edge.
Repeat with however many hats you want to make.
You can also use gumdrops or DOTS in place of the Rolos.
Let hats set. Place on top of cupcakes, cookies, brownies, or they are cute just on their own.
ENJOY!
NOTE: you can also use melted white chocolate, and just dip the bottoms of the Rolos or gumdrops and place on a plain chip, or chocolate dipped chip. You don’t have to dip chips in chocolate, they are good, and look cute, with all the trimmings on a plain chip. I found some sour patch pull apart candy, that I used to place around the Rolo, that was cute too if you want to add a little more color. You can use your imagination, and make them as fancy or plain as you wish.
