A boy was bitten by a shark Sunday morning in Cocoa Beach, NBC affiliate WESH reported citing Brevard County Ocean Rescue Deputy Chief Eisen Witcher.

Witcher said the boy was wading in waist-deep water at Lori Wilson Park when the shark bit him wounding his calf. Lifeguards helped the boy out of the water, paramedics treated him on scene and then took him to a hospital, WESH reported.

Ocean Rescue crews cleared everybody from the beach for about an hour to avoid more bites, according to WESH.
