A man is running 224 miles over the course of 72 hours to show support to the fallen police officer Natalie Corona.

Colin Schmitt has run long distances before but never this long.

After Corona was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 10, Schmitt saw a billboard with her photo on it.

On the billboard, it wrote ‘badge number 224,’ which inspired Schmitt to set the goal.

Schmitt is a personal trainer at ‘Get Fit Davis Sports.’ He plans to run a 17-mile loop around Davis until he reaches 224 miles.

Ashton Wolgast, a friend of Schmitt’s, is going to run part of it with him as they both understand what the loss has meant to their community.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help benefit the Natalie Corona Scholarship Fund.

Schmitt will only take 30-minute rests every 12 hours to shower, change clothes, and grab some food.

If all goes as planned, Schmitt will be finishing the 224 miles by early Monday morning around 6 a.m.
