J.B. is an Emmy and Murrow award-winning digital anchor on WFLA Now, an interactive news streaming platform he designed and built for Florida news.

Reaching people through live streaming to the device in the palm of their hand, J.B. anchors our breaking news coverage for online audiences watching on the WFLA app, WFLA.com and our social media platforms. You’ll also see him co-host digital coverage for Nexstar Media’s 190+ local television stations across the country in streaming franchises such as Tracking the Tropics, Your Local Election Headquarters, and Countdown to Daytona.

J.B. comes to sunny Tampa Bay from our sister station WKRG in Mobile, Alabama where he was named “Alabama Reporter of the Year” four times in four years. Among his many stories on the Gulf Coast, J.B. boarded a 12-hour Hurricane Hunters flight into the eye of Hurricane Irma a few hours before the monstrous storm reached Tampa Bay. On the tech beat, J.B. has produced series such as “Digital Dangers” and “Smartphone Savings.” Earlier in his career, he was an anchor on WENY-TV in upstate New York and worked as a Bureau Chief in Delaware for WBOC.

At WFLA, J.B. has become a proponent of interactive journalism, contributing to the rapidly evolving industry by helping develop streaming technology that utilizes real-time audience interaction. He’s helped lead digital coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hurricane Dorian, Super Bowls LIII, LIV, and LV, and the past several runnings of the Daytona 500. His eight days of online coverage of Hurricane Michael when television transmitters were down in the Florida Panhandle earned a regional Emmy and Edward R. Murrow award in 2019.
