Josh Benson anchors the “First at Four” and News Channel 8 at 5:30 newscasts Monday through Friday. Josh also anchors News Channel 8 at 8:00 p.m. on Great 38.
Josh is a Swede from Minnesota who was once able to handle -20° temperatures. But after working at many stations in warmer climates, his blood has thinned and he remains the laughingstock of his two older brothers who tease him for going ‘soft’.
Josh has ‘moved up the street’ from his last job as Morning Anchor at WFOR-TV in Miami, Florida. He’s anchored newscasts at WFTV-TV in Orlando and at KVOA-TV in Tucson, Arizona. His first job was in between corn fields at KAAL-TV in Austin, Minnesota. He’s proud to say he lived across the street from the Spam Museum. Yes, there is a museum dedicated to the canned meat Spam.
Josh studied Journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He remains a rabid Minnesota Vikings fan despite the fact they are rarely in the winner’s circle. He is a proud Minnesota ‘Gopher’, but spends much more time rooting for the FSU Seminoles after meeting his wife Tara (a Greek Canadian who happens to be a die-hard ‘Nole).
While Josh stays busy with the news of the day, he also enjoys website design, programming and video production. He has a passion for missing person cases and founded FindJodi.com, a non-profit organization that seeks answers in the 1995 disappearance of KIMT-TV Morning Anchor Jodi Huisentruit.
Josh is a proud Dad of two little girls Bella and Brooklyn. He loves being a ‘Girl Dad’. The family lives near downtown in a crowded condo that includes the family, two dogs (Scout and Savannah) and two cats (Scarlett and Mickey).
