One of Congressman Gus Bilirakis’ sons was arrested early Saturday morning after an incident outside a bar in St. Petersburg.
Michael Bilirakis, 25, was arrested around 12:46 a.m., shortly after police say he was kicked out of Macdinton’s Irish Pub on 1st Avenue North.
According to an arrest report from St. Pete police, Bilirakis started arguing with security who escorted him out of Macdinton’s and off the property. Police walked over to help because he “appeared to be ready to fight,” the arrest report says.
Officers say Bilirakis yelled and cursed as they tried to explain that security had the right to escort him out for causing a disturbance.
The arrest report says Bilirakis then loudly yelled “f*** you” at police when they told him to calm down and walk away.
Police arrested him for disorderly intoxication, and say he was uncooperative and hostile with the investigation.
Bilirakis was released from the Pinellas County Jail on his own recognizance just after 2 p.m. Saturday.
His father, GOP Rep. Gus Bilirakis, represents the 12th Congressional District of Florida. It covers all of Pasco County as well as northern parts of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. He is running for reelection this year.
