In the wake of Hurricane Florence, concerned animal lovers have been dropping off everything from cat litter to dog toys at the Earthwise Pet Supply store in Pinellas.

“Everyone is coming together and recognizing a need and helping,” Dana Bryan said.

Cindi Hughes is working with Bryan and says she started collecting donations for animals and their families just days after the storm hit the Carolinas.

“We got the van filled and we got it shipped and then I woke up the next morning to more people saying I’ve collected more stuff for you, and I have more donations and we have this and we have that,” she told News Channel 8.

So when all of the blankets, bags of cat litter and, of course, tasty treats are packed on trucks at 9 a.m. Saturday, Hughes says she’ll be proud to be a part of this second relief shipment to the Carolinas.

“I don’t put anything past the people that love animals. All we have to say is ‘they need.’ And when we say they need – people fill that need,” Hughes said with a tear in her eye.
