Deanne King

As a proud southern gal who was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Deanne King is proud to be back in her home state. Deanne joined the 8 On Your Side team in December 2019. She reports on News Channel 8 Today from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and again at 11 a.m. You can also watch her reports on Great 38 at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Deanne is an alumna of the University of South Florida – Go Bulls! Before returning to Tampa, Deanne served as the weekend anchor/reporter for WCBD News 2 in Charleston, S.C. In her nearly two years in the Lowcountry, Deanne covered everything from national stories like the failed political comeback of former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford to breaking news like Hurricane Dorian. She also broke the news about the kidnapping of a 4-year-old girl and the brutal attack on her mother, the death of fifth-grader Raniya Wright following a classroom fight and several other exclusive stories.

Prior to starting her broadcast career at WCBD, Deanne interned in the Tampa market, back home in Tallahassee and in the North Carolina and Georgia markets. Deanne has had a passion for journalism and telling stories since she was in fifth grade. Her goal is to impact her community and leave it better than how she found it. Deanne enjoys sharing stories that impact the black community, inspirational stories, investigative pieces and reporting breaking news.

Deanne is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She was initiated into the Zeta Upsilon Chapter at USF.

While not at work, Deanne enjoys cooking, grocery shopping, traveling, trying new adventures, spending time with her niece and being a dog mom to her little Yorkie, King.
