SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The mother of the little boy who was murdered in October 2015 in North Port was found unconscious in jail and later pronounced dead at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Correctional staff discovered Kristen Bury, 33, around 1 a.m. Saturday. She was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead there. The initial investigation indicated suicide, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. The Medical Examiner’s Office will investigate her death.

Two-month-old Chance Walsh’s grandparents reported him missing in September 2015, triggering a multi-state search. Chance was last seen alive on September 9 in North Port. In October he was found dead and buried off of Elliot Court in North Port. Bury and the boy’s father Joseph Walsh were the only suspects. They were arrested in South Carolina.
Kristen Bury was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and sentenced to 25 years in prison for her role in the boy’s murder. Joseph Walsh was charged with second-degree murder.
Bury was in Sarasota this week for court proceedings unrelated to the murder. Her family was notified of her death.RELATED PHOTOS: North Port baby boy Chance missingRELATED STORIES-
