It has been two years since Solar Shield Windows in Palm Harbor closed and a Better Call Behnken investigation exposed shady deals.
Now, the company’s co-owner, Jordan Richardson, has been arrested on charges of grand theft for allegedly stealing from his next boss. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office accuses him of using his new boss’s company credit card unlawfully.
That boss, Casey Cane, owner of CCI Construction, says Richardson caused his company and fellow employees great heartache.
“It hurt,” he said.
“It has been very tough,” Cane said. “It was me out there, trying to save my company, giving money back to customers who had been done wrong.”
Cane says Richardson used his company credit card to set up automatic payments for his girlfriend’s condo and his new BMW. He also claims Richardson collected cash deposits from customers and kept the money and charged their credit cards without permission.
Some former Solar Shield customers called in a panic, threatening to call law enforcement about credit card charges for work with CCI that they knew nothing about.
“He brought customer credit cards with him from Solar Shield and ran those cards like it was new business for CCI, and then he collected a commission from us,” Cane said.
As for the credit card, “He bought alcohol, he bought stuff at Walmart, Walgreens, a bunch of different things you would normally buy in your everyday living,” Cane said.
Richardson is charged with grand theft under $20,000. The sheriff’s office says they have investigated Richardson for a year and that investigation continues.
